Sweet and smoky, with notes of molasses and black pepper, our uncommonly distinctive Decaf Organic French Roast is heavier and richer than most. First, our roasters blend seasonally selected beans from Latin America. Next, they carefully coax them into this aggressively dark, seductively syrupy, and wholly addictive elixir. Lastly, we decaffeinate the beans through the gentle Swiss Water® Process in Vancouver B.C.; a natural water and carbon filter method.

Why you’ll enjoy it

The name ‘French Roast’ may be common, but our version is not. It’s heavier, sweeter and richer than most. Sweet and smoky with notes of stewed berries and black pepper. With artisan care our roasters take beans from Latin America known for their fruit notes and carefully roast them into an aggressively dark, but seductively syrupy and smoky elixir. We decaffeinate the beans at the organically certified Swiss Water®  plant in Vancouver, BC using a natural water and carbon filter method.

Origin Story

A classic sticks around for a reason – which is why our Decaf Organic French Roast is to this day our popular decaf version of the original. We take this seriously and only use high quality coffees that live up to this ever popular roasting style. Rest assured – every roast profile is important to us and our Decaf Organic French Roast is a testament to this.

Producer Spotlight: Nicaragua Soppexcca

Soppexcca is a cooperative of 650 members located in the mountains of Jinotega in Nicaragua. Sixty eight farmers started the cooperative in 1997. It’s is not only known for quality, but more importantly for its gender inclusion and empowerment of its women producers. Forty percent of members are female.

The group is led by Fátima Ismael. Fátima is a well-recognized name in specialty coffee for her work with Soppexcca. Her work focuses on helping female farmers gain access to land to produce and market their own coffees. The group’s brand, Las Hermanas, directly benefits women and their families as profits from the sale go directly to cervical cancer prevention programs. The cooperative also invests in scholarship programs and education and arts classes for children of members. With a foundational believe to create a humane environment and active participation of its members, the cooperative is one of our longest partnerships as it aligns so clearly with our own values.
