The ACODIHUE Cooperative (Asociación de Cooperación al Desarrollo Integral de Huehuetenango) was formed in 1996. ACODIHUE is located in the mountainous territory called Chuchumatanes in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala and is comprised of both community members and small producers. ACODIHUE is multicultural and multilingual representing nine different Mayan ethnic groups. The co-op provides its associates with food security and health benefits in addition to business services including marketing, commercialization and economic development mostly focused on coffee, honey, potatoes and hibiscus. There are 1200 or so coffee producers belonging to ACODIHUE with average farm size between 0.5 hectares and 4 hectares. 80% of the coffee is produced by women associates.
