Why you’ll enjoy it

A single-origin decaf should be just as exciting as the original. The high elevation and fresh water found in this region of Ethiopia create vibrantly clear flavors of stone fruit and citrus. Decaffeinated using the Swiss Water® Process, even regular coffee drinkers love our Organic Decaf Ethiopia Homacho Waeno. Really.

Origin Story

This fully washed process coffee is from the Homacho Waeno washing station outside the village of Aleta Wondo in the lush Sidama region. The over 3600 members of the co-op grow their coffee in shaded gardens around their homes intermixed with fruit trees and other food crops.

Producer Spotlight: Homacho Waeno Cooperative

The members of Homacho Waeno deliver their ripe coffee cherries to the co-op’s washing station. Here, the coffee is fully fermented and washed before being sun-dried on raised beds. The name Homacho Waeno means ‘Place of Peace.’ Homacho Waeno is part of the larger Sidama Coffee Farmers Union (SCFCU). This union works with over 80,000 smallholder farmers providing marketing, technical support and financial services to its 53 member cooperatives. After leaving Ethiopia the raw green coffee beans are decaffeinated using the natural Swiss Water® Process in Vancouver B.C.
