We are so excited for the release of Pride Blend this year, both for the delicious coffee and to show our support to our community. Pride Blend is more than just a delicious blend of coffees from Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil. It’s part of our Making Coffee Matter program, a series of seasonal coffees we produce. With each coffee, we donate to a different non-profit dedicated to helping the communities we care about. This season we are donating $10,000 to the Ali Forney Center, an organization based in New York dedicated to helping LGBTQ homeless youth around the country.
Founded in 2002, the center helps nearly 1,400 youths per year gain access to housing and supportive services that help them prepare for independent living. Something they would not have access to otherwise, simply for being themselves. Our donation supports Ali Forney Center’s Learning, Employment, Advancement and Placement (LEAP) program. The LEAP program provides stipends and paid internships.
In addition to our donation, Allegro Coffee team members also visited the Ali Forney Center to educate the youth in the LEAP program about career paths in coffee. We toured our micro-roastery in the Bowery and also discussed how to taste coffee. Lastly, we hired a paid intern from the LEAP program. The intern learned everything that goes into the perfect cup of coffee and rotated through various positions in the cafe and roastery.
To join in the celebration, pick up a bag of Pride Blend in your local Whole Foods Market, or in our online store.
