The lush, dense coffee farm scene on our Nicaraguan coffee bag was painted by an artist named Adonis Fonseca. Adonis is a friend of the Selva Negra coffee farm and paints realistic portraits and landscapes to sell at the local restaurant.

From their 100% recycling program of all coffee by-products to their massive red worm composting system to their intensive water conservation methods, Selva Negra is truly the most environmentally sound and sustainable coffee farms we have ever seen. A mixture of Bourbon and Caturra variety coffee trees are grown under a dense shade canopy following organic methods. The farm also maintains housing, medical facility, kitchen, library and schools for the workers on the farm.
