About the Coffee
Cedar wood and tobacco notes with an almost chewy body and low acidity. Blue Batak is sourced from small producers belonging to the Batak culture in the famed Lintong coffee region of northern Sumatra. This very specially prepared lot was first hand-sorted to select out only the rounded Peaberry beans from the normal flat beans and then carefully aged for two years until the typical blue-green color of the coffee mellowed to a deep reddish brown. This aging process transforms and concentrates the flavor components in the beans and once roasted produces a uniquely rustic taste profile.

About the Artist
The traditional Sumatran village design on our  Aged Sumatra coffee bag was designed by a Sumatran artist named Ferry Afandi Pangaribuan. Ferry Afandi is from the town of Medan on the island of Sumatra. Ferry Afandi has been painting for six years and specializes in abstract and modern art. His work stems from his own imagination and internal inspirations.
